COLUMBUS, Ind. – A Bartholomew County woman was arrested for OWI and drug charges after she slammed her car into the side of the Dairy Queen near national Road on Wednesday morning.
When Columbus Police Department (CPD) patrolmen arrived, they identified the driver of the car as Jessi Baldwin, 37, of Columbus. Police say she told them that while she was driving in the shopping center parking lot, she swerved her vehicle to avoid crashing into another car that was coming directly at her.
Officers said they thought the suspect showed signs of impairment, so she was transported to Columbus Regional Health where a blood draw was completed. CPD also searched her purse and allegedly found marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside.
When the hospital released her, Baldwin was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
