COLUMBUS, Ind. – The city of Columbus and members of the Columbus Police Department (CPD) invite the public to join them this morning at 8:30, on the steps of Columbus City Hall, for their annual Patriots Day/9-11 Memorial Ceremony.
CPD says this year’s event will once again feature the Columbus Police and Fire Color Guards and bagpipes as they honor and remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
As part of the ceremony, a moment of silence will be held to correspond with the time of the attacks. The remembrance also includes an emergency responder radio dispatch to honor the first responders and citizens that lost their lives in New York City, Washington D.C., and on United Airlines Flight 93 that crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Members of the Columbus Fire and Police Department Color Guard will participate, and brief comments will be made by city officials.
The ceremony is scheduled to last about 30 minutes.
