COLUMBUS, Ind. – Authorities at the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) say they arrested a local man on multiple charges after he caused an accident then fled the scene.
Deputies responded to a personal injury crash in the 12000 block of East 25th Street. Officers say it appears that April Evans was driving the vehicle when Kevin Groover Jr., 42, of Columbus, grabbed the steering wheel which resulted in the accident. Evans sustained injuries and was transported to Columbus Regional Health.
After crashing the car, Groover allegedly jumped into the driver’s seat and took off in the wrecked vehicle. BCSO says he was later found in the 3000 block of North State Road 9.
Groover was taken into custody on preliminary charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, endangerment, and resisting law enforcement.
