COLUMBUS, Ind. – The cause for a Friday morning fire in the 1700 block of Cottage Avenue, in Columbus, has not been determined. The Columbus Fire Department (CFD) responded at approximately 6:20 a.m.
A family of three escaped the blaze without injury. A total of 12 pets were in the home, and unfortunately, five cats died as a result of the fire.
No smoke alarms were found in the home. CFD estimates the damage to be around $50,000.
