COLUMBUS, Ind. – In a social media post on Wednesday, Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers spoke about a resident who reported a scam to the sheriff’s office.
According to Myers, the resident said he had received a phone call from someone claiming to be an officer of the court saying he failed to report for jury duty and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The caller then asked for personal information. Myers says court officers would never ask for confidential information or money over the phone.
If you are faced with a similar call, the best thing to do is hang up the phone, and report it to law enforcement.
