NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police (ISP), and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office say that they are trying to locate James Helton for the crime of intimidation with a weapon and pointing a firearm. The episode occurred on Thursday in the Hayden area when Helton supposedly pointed a firearm at an individual while making threats.
Before officers arrived at the scene of the incident, Helton had left and supposedly gone to his home in Jackson County. After going to the suspect’s house, deputies tried to make contact with him but did not get a response. Law enforcement set up a perimeter around the home.
After a search warrant was obtained, ISP executed the search of the house. State police SWAT made entry into the home, but Helton was not found inside.
