JENNINGS COUNTY, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office says that they are trying to locate James Helton for the crime of intimidation with a weapon and pointing a firearm. The reported incident occurred on August 22 in the Hayden, Indiana area where Helton pointed a firearm at an individual while making threats, according to law enforcement.
Before deputies arrived at the scene of the incident, Helton reportedly left the area and went to his home in Jackson County. Deputies then went to his residence, and tried to make contact with Helton, but were not getting a response. Enforcement later set up a perimeter around the home.
After a search warrant was obtained to search for Helton inside, Indiana State Police were contacted to execute the search. After state police SWAT made entry into the home, Helton was reportedly not found inside.
Both Jennings County Sheriff Kenny Freeman and Jackson County Sheriff Rick Myers were on scene throughout the duration of the incident. People with any information are recommended to contact the Jennings Count Sheriff’s Office at 812-346-5111.
