COLUMBUS, Ind. – Over the last couple of weeks, the Columbus Fire Department (CFD) has begun the training process for its new recruits. Extinguishing a blaze is obviously a big part of the job, but there are many other aspects to being a CFD firefighter.
During the recent schooling, the recruits were brought up to speed on standpipe and sprinkler systems, ventilation, and hazardous materials decontamination. On Friday, the training focused on how to extract injured motorists from vehicles.
