VERNON, Ind. – Jennings County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the area of Perry Street, in Vernon, on Saturday, in reference to a stolen 2019 Chevy Tahoe from Marion County.
When deputies arrived, they located the parked vehicle not too far from a nearby car show. One person was reportedly found inside the car and was identified by law enforcement as Tulio Espinosa, 29, of San Diego, California.
After he was taken into custody, Espinosa allegedly identified himself as an FBI agent who was in town for a secret investigation. After deputies did their own investigating, that information turned out to be false and the suspect was transported to the Jennings County Jail.
Espinosa is currently being held on charges of impersonating a public servant and auto theft.
