COLUMBUS, Ind. – Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies were summoned to S. Lake Drive in eastern Bartholomew County, shortly after 11 p.m. on Sunday, after they received a domestic disturbance call saying one of the parties involved had been shot. When officers arrived they spoke with a female, Hannah Bowman, 37, and they said she told them that she had shot her husband during an altercation while he was sitting in her vehicle.
The 49-year-old husband had injuries to his shoulder but refused medical treatment. Authorities say he is not cooperating with them at this time.
As the investigation continued, Mrs. Bowman’s brother, Jonathan A. Lawburgh, 35, of Scipio, showed up at the residence and allegedly started to fight with investigating deputies and other first responders. Lawburgh was detained and faces preliminary charges for two counts of battery on a public safety official, obstruction of justice, disorderly conduct, and resisting law enforcement.
Alcohol was supposedly present at the scene. BCSO says the wife admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages prior to the incident and she tested .215 on a PBT. Hannah Bowman was arrested on preliminary charges of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon. She is currently being held in the Bartholomew County Jail.
