COLUMBUS, Ind. – As the calendar turns to August, schools across the state will begin their new year. That also means that lower speed limits for school zones are back in effect, and local law enforcement will be keeping an eye out for violators.
“The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office will have extra deputies out in the mornings and afternoons, around the schools, to make sure that people are driving with regard for others and being careful,” said Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers. He also reminds drivers to keep an eye out for school buses and for students who walk or ride bikes to school.
The first day of school for kids in the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation is Wednesday, August 7, while the Flatrock Hawcreek School Corporation begins its 2019-2020 school year on Tuesday, August 6.
