Strawberries on the Square
Discover Downtown Franklin’s 9th annual Strawberries on the Square will include serving strawberry shortcake on the courthouse square, the Lion’s Club Fish Fry, and the FHI Garage Sale. Evening activities include a classic car cruise-in on N. Main St., kid’s activities, the musical styling’s of Pet Monkey, and the movie “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” at the Artcraft Theatre. The 7th Annual Franklin Heritage, Inc. Garage Sale will take place 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. in the parking lot on North Main Street across from the Artcraft Theatre. This sale is only for Friday so stop by early to find a bargain! Anyone interested in donating items for the sale, please contact Franklin Heritage at 317-736-6823. Discover Downtown Franklin will host Strawberries on the Square from 11:00 a.m. until they sell out. Volunteers will serve cake, ice cream, fresh strawberries, whipped cream and a bottle of water for $5.00. This event is an annual fundraiser for the organization and its activities. The Lion’s Club Fish Fry will be held Friday and Saturday, May 24th and 25th, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the public parking lot at the corner of Water Street and East Monroe Street. The Lion’s Club has been having fish fry’s since the club was chartered in 1945. Proceeds from these events benefit several groups throughout the community including: mini-grants to all First Grade classes in Franklin, High School Scholarships, vision screenings, the Inter-Church Food Pantry, Johnson County Good Cheer Fund, the Franklin Boys and Girls Club, and many more. Discover Downtown Franklin invites all classic car enthusiasts to bring their classic cars into downtown Franklin on Friday, May 24th. Parking will be reserved on North Main Street across from the Artcraft Theatre and in the adjoining parking lot. Reserved parking begins at 5:00 p.m. Admission is free. Artists Sought to Participate in Art and Fine Craft Show
Organizers Seeking Artists and Artisans to Participate in 2013 Déjà Vu Art and Fine Craft Show
Artists are being sought for this fall’s Déjà Vu Art and Fine Craft Show, which will be held at The Commons in Columbus, Indiana on November 16, 2013 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Because the show is held in celebration of America Recycles Day, all work exhibited is to be made, or at least in part, of scrap or repurposed materials. A few applicants who create their work from natural or sustainable materials will be accepted as well.
Those who are interested in exhibiting are to submit digital photos and an application in order to be juried. Deadline for applications is June 18, 2013, and artists will be notified of the jury results by July 2. A booth rental fee of $75 must be paid by July 16, 2013. May is Bike Month! Please join us on Monday, May 27 from 5pm to 8pm at Eastside Community Center for Dinner and Bikes. Dinner & Bikes is a month-long tour of the central and northeastern U.S., featuring a traveling road show of vegan food and bicycle inspiration. Joshua Ploeg will delight with a vegan and gluten free buffet dinner, Elly Blue will present about her new book, Everyday Bicycling, a friendly, basic guide to bicycle transportation that includes chapters on carrying cargo, family bicycling, and advocacy, and Joe Biel will show a near-complete excerpt from Aftermass, his forthcoming documentary about the history of bicycle activism in Portland. The event is followed with a book signing and time for questions, discussion of local issues, and perusing the traveling bookstore.

Cheese Making Class
Say Cheese! If you are a cheese lover this class is bound to make you smile. Join us as we go through the process of cheese making. You will learn the fundamentals of the cheese making process as well as make and take home two varieties.
Registration is required. Materials are incliuded and sampoles will be abundant. Ages 13 and up. Class will be located at the Historic Henry Breeding Farm in the Kitchen of the barn.
