Head Start of Columbus and Edinburgh is currently enrolling for the 2013-2014 School year. Head Start is a free preschool for low-income families with children ages 3 to 5. Classes are 5 days a week/four hours a day. Bus transportation is available.

Strawberries on the Square
Discover Downtown Franklin’s 9th annual Strawberries on the Square will include serving strawberry shortcake on the courthouse square, the Lion’s Club Fish Fry, and the FHI Garage Sale. Evening activities include a classic car cruise-in on N. Main St., kid’s activities, the musical styling’s of Pet Monkey, and the movie “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” at the Artcraft Theatre. The 7th Annual Franklin Heritage, Inc. Garage Sale will take place 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. in the parking lot on North Main Street across from the Artcraft Theatre. This sale is only for Friday so stop by early to find a bargain! Anyone interested in donating items for the sale, please contact Franklin Heritage at 317-736-6823. Discover Downtown Franklin will host Strawberries on the Square from 11:00 a.m. until they sell out. Volunteers will serve cake, ice cream, fresh strawberries, whipped cream and a bottle of water for $5.00. This event is an annual fundraiser for the organization and its activities. The Lion’s Club Fish Fry will be held Friday and Saturday, May 24th and 25th, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the public parking lot at the corner of Water Street and East Monroe Street. The Lion’s Club has been having fish fry’s since the club was chartered in 1945. Proceeds from these events benefit several groups throughout the community including: mini-grants to all First Grade classes in Franklin, High School Scholarships, vision screenings, the Inter-Church Food Pantry, Johnson County Good Cheer Fund, the Franklin Boys and Girls Club, and many more. Discover Downtown Franklin invites all classic car enthusiasts to bring their classic cars into downtown Franklin on Friday, May 24th.
